heroes
veronica
i walked toward my jeep and noticed paper on my windshield. i knew it wasn't a parking citation because i wasn't within the city limits or the long arm of the philadelphia parking nazis.
i plucked the tiny, white envelope off my windshield as i unlocked the door and settled myself behind the wheel.
i examined the note, and on one side was the name, veronica with a little heart drawn above the a.

on the flipside, was a note:

"please call veronica at (phone number)

the wind blew my door into yours causing a knick"

later that evening, i called veronica and left a voice mail. i told her thank you so much for being honest and leaving the note, but i wasn't really a car person, not particularly bothered by a ding, and   it added character anyway with a bright splash of red left by her paint job.

i did not expect to hear back from her, but she called the following day. veronica said the voice mail made her day. it was her daughter who lost control of their suv door when the wind blew it out of her hand and into my door.
the girl was quite upset and felt responsible, and was relieved it was really not a big, huge deal.

veronica asked me to text her my home address so her daughter, who is a avid baker, could bake me something and mail it to me.

veronica and her daughter are my heroes.
a mom who takes the time to set the example for her daughter, that when one does the "right" thing, the universe thanks you tenfold.

thank you veronica.
the best!
